The Photographic Days of Castell-Platja d’Aro (Girona, Spain) are a set of photographic activities such as conferences, seminars and workshops, photography contests, etc. that take place annually in different dates and locations of the municipality. The Days are a space of arrival and at the same time of departure, a “meeting point”. A stage where to exchange, offer and receive knowledge and visions around photography.
We are very happy that the 6th edition is taking place this year. The majority of the activities are concentrated on the weekend of June 07-09, and are open to professional and amateur photographers alike, both local, national and international. Additional to this weekend, several other activities around photography are organised throughout the month.
With the aim to continue to educate the eye, this edition we talk about “Educating the Eye: new looks“, with the intention to show a different vision to daily themes or situations, and to look with fresh eyes to our own work. For this reason, several young artists have been invited to the photography days, without forgetting about some consolidated authors who managed to keep a fresh perspective.
These Days are organized jointly by the City Council of Castell-Platja d’Aro, the Library Mercè Rodoreda and the Photographic Association Educando la Mirada. The activities of the photography days are totally free, but we only have limited places available.
For the second year, there will be a photographic exhibition with the winning and finalist works of the “Educating the Eye” contest, as well as some additional activities on various dates throughout the month of June, such as guided tours of the exhibition, a program for young people, or a session of portraits of inhabitants of the municipality with their domestic animals.
