{"id":17611,"date":"2025-09-01T22:20:51","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T20:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fotoplatjadaro.com\/uncategorized\/winners-xii-contest-educating-the-eye\/"},"modified":"2025-09-23T20:18:58","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T18:18:58","slug":"winners-xii-contest-educating-the-eye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fotoplatjadaro.com\/en\/winners-xii-contest-educating-the-eye\/","title":{"rendered":"Winners of the XII International Contest &#8220;Educating the Eye&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>332 authors, 384 projects, 3,962 photographs, 61 countries<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Castell d&#8217;Aro, Platja d&#8217;Aro and S&#8217;Agar\u00f3, September 1, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 The XII International Photographic Project Competition &#8220;Educating the Eye&#8221; has closed its most international edition with the participation of 332 photographers from 61 countries on six continents, who have submitted 384 projects and 3,962 images.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The contest, organized by the Educating the Eye Photographic Association with the support of the Merc\u00e8 Rodoreda Library and the City Council of Castell-d&#8217;Aro, Platja d&#8217;Aro and S&#8217;Agar\u00f3, aims, since 2014, to stimulate and reward creativity with a total of \u20ac 5,000 and give visibility to the gaze of authors from all over the world.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The award-winning projects:<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>first prize<\/strong> went to Iranian <strong>Mohsen Kaboli<\/strong> with <em>*Surrogate Mother*<\/em>, a series that documents the story of Zahra, a 29-year-old woman who, in the midst of economic difficulties, agrees to be a surrogate mother for a Christian couple in Iran. The project offers an intimate and courageous look at a reality marked by social, legal and emotional tensions. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The jury has also distinguished the following projects:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Second prize:<\/strong> *<em>Football for Peace<\/em>*, by A<strong>ntonio Arag\u00f3n Renuncio<\/strong> (Spain), on the integration of disabled children in Togo through football.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Third prize<\/strong>: *<em>La Fiesta Brava<\/em>*, by <strong>Ariadna Creus Mart\u00ednez-Aguado <\/strong>(Spain), which portrays popular bullfighting festivals and questions the normalization of animal suffering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Young Award<\/strong>: *<em>Silent Wings<\/em>*, by <strong>Kianoush Saadati<\/strong> (Iran), about women who rescue and rehabilitate owls in the north of the country in the face of superstitions and habitat loss.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local Award<\/strong>: *<em>Al filo del amor<\/em>*, by <strong>Francisco Crespo Alay<\/strong> (S&#8217;Agar\u00f3, Girona), a black and white series that symbolizes the vulnerability and sacredness of love through the female figure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/>In addition, the jury has selected a group of 5 international finalists whose proposals range from resilience in marginalised communities to workers&#8217; memory and the struggle for freedom in different contexts.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consolidated as an international benchmark competition, *Educando la Mirada* reaffirms its global character and its commitment to photography as a tool for critical reflection and sensitivity to the challenges of the present.
