ABOUT PHOTO ETHICS CENTER:<\/h4>\n

Photo Ethics Centre wants to change the way the world takes and shares photographs by incorporating a culture of ethics in photography.<\/p>\n

We are dedicated to promoting ethical literacy in the photography industry. We do this by offering a wide range of educational opportunities in photography ethics, including workshops, events, online courses and free multimedia content.<\/p>\n

ABOUT SAVANNAH DODD:<\/span><\/p>\n

Savannah Dodd is the founder and director of the Photo Ethics Centre. She is responsible for designing and delivering workshops, conferences and other educational content. He has worked with international audiences from a wide range of sectors, including media, academia and international development. In 2020, Emerald Publishing Group published its edited volume entitled Ethics and Integrity in Visual Research Methods<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Savannah’s background is in anthropology. He earned his M.A. in anthropology and sociology from the Graduate Institute of International Development Studies in Geneva (2015) and his B.A. in anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis (2015). Louis (2012). She is currently pursuing her PhD in anthropology at Queen’s University Belfast, where she is examining the ethics of archiving photographs in post-conflict societies. Prior to founding the Center, she worked in the international development sector for NGOs and IGOs in Switzerland, Uganda and Thailand.<\/p>\n

Alongside her work with the Center, Savannah maintains her own photographic practice. Her photographic work focuses on health, family and identity issues. Her recent project produced a photobook on the lived experience of dementia, with funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Research and Development Division.<\/p>\n

Savannah’s work as an academic, photographer and entrepreneur has been recognized with several awards. In 2021, Savannah was recognized as one of the UK’s 100 leading women entrepreneurs in the Small Business Britain #ialso campaign.<\/p>\n

Savannah is a member of the UK Committee of the Ethical Journalism Network, the Las Fotos Project Photo Awards Host Committee and the board of directors of Source Magazine. She is part of the inaugural ethics panel for the Environmental Photographer of the Year Award and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Rural Deliberative Forum.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

This half-day workshop<\/strong> is a <strongintroduction to the topic presented more fully in the Saturday workshop.<\/p>\n

During the workshop, Savannah explores some of the key issues in the ethics of photography.<\/p>\n

We will discuss why ethics are important in photography and look at case studies to frame broader conversations on topics such as impact and visual language.<\/p>\n

Participants will have the opportunity to work independently and in small groups to identify a set of ethical principles that are most meaningful to their practice.<\/p>\n

At the end of the workshop, participants will have the option to advance their Statement of Ethics and apply for certification from the Center for Photography Ethics.<\/p>\n

This workshop is conducted in English, with occasional translation assistance.<\/p>\n
