Workshop: Light in Photography

Introduction

Photographic Language Workshop: Light

Theoretical-practical mini-workshop on introduction to light.

Photography is, literally, writing with light. We will learn to recognize how the perception of a scene changes depending on the intensity, direction or quality of light. Just as a landscape is not the same under a bright sun as it is under a cloudy sky, our photographs are not either. We will discover how light not only builds forms, but also charges images with meanings and emotions.

The workshop takes place in two sessions.

The first session will have a theoretical part and a practical part, the second session will be practical and experimental.

Program & Registration

goals

  • Understand the fundamentals of light in photography.
  • Know types of light and modifiers.
  • Learn how to use light effectively.
  • Impact of light on emotions.
  • Enter color and color temperature control

Program

  • Session 1. Theoretical introduction (1h). Practice of learned concepts (1h).
  • Session 2. Group practice with fixed light and flash (1.25h). Introduction to light management in Lightroom and Photoshop (0.75h).

People who have participated in the workshop will be able to request an additional session of tutored practices in smaller groups, which will take place between November and December 2025, dates to be agreed.

Who is it for?

Anyone curious about photography. No previous experience or professional camera is necessary: mobile phones are more than enough to participate. The methodology allows each participant to adapt the proposals to their own level, from those who start from scratch to those who already have advanced knowledge and want to delve into specific aspects.
