05 Nov Success of registrations to the Photographic Days 2020
The virtual edition of the photographic days of Castell-Platja d’Aro adds 400 registrations.
Castell-Platja d’Aro, November 2020 – The 7th edition of the Castell-Platja d’Aro Photographic Conference has been totally successful and has received 400 national and international registrations for the 7 sessions organized during the last two weekends.
The online format has allowed to open the gates beyond Catalonia
The setting of the conferences, initially planned for the month of May and finally celebrated in October due to covid-19, added to the meeting restrictions that had changed the hybrid format to virtual, have not taken their toll on the activity organized annually by the Castell-Platja d’Aro Town Hall, the Mercè Rodoreda Library and the Educating the Eye Photographic Association. Of course, the online format has allowed to increase the number of registrations for the inauguration and its programmed workshops and add attendees not only from Girona and Barcelona as usual, but also from Madrid, Basque Country, the Balearic Islands, Galicia, Andalusia or fins i tot Sud-Amèrica.
From the organization they do a very positive balance of the experience, both for the raised level of the speakers, -among whom I had named the documentary filmmaker Txema Salvans, the photographer Oriol Miñarro or the multidisciplinary artist Laia Abril- , and for the good interaction that has been achieved between the lecturers and the workshop attendees.
The Educating the Eye Photographic Association would like to thank the Mercè Rodoreda Library and the Castell-Platja d’Aro City Council for their commitment to the conferences and the promotion of visual culture, since despite the difficulties generated by covid-19 and the general tendency to cancel cultural activities, they have opted for the continuation of photographic sessions.
Educating the Eye exhibition
The “Educating the Eye” exhibition can still be visited until November 29, which will be inaugurated at the same time as the VII Photographic Conference of Castell-Platja d’Aro and which brings together the works of the 5 winners and the 7 finalists of the VII International Contest of “Educating the Eye” photographic projects.
The exhibition will be a testimony of the social and cultural concerns of each author and of the narrative possibilities and aesthetics of photography. It is possible to visit free of charge outside Masia Bas in Platja d’Aro. It is possible to request the catalog of the exhibition to the Mercè Rodoreda library.
